Your day-by-day itinerary

1. Guwahati → Shillong

   Meet at Guwahati airport and visit Kamakhya Temple, then drive to Shillong with a stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani), where kayaking and boating are optional. Visit the Cathedral of Mary if time permits.

2. Shillong city

   Visit Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls, then return to the hotel for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, see Lady Hydari Park and Ward’s Lake, with a walk around Police Bazaar.

3. Shillong → Mawlynnong → Dawki → Cherrapunjee

   Explore Mawlynnong village, its Sky Walk and Khasi village life. Walk to the living root bridge at nearby Rewai, then continue to Dawki and the Umngot River for a country-boat excursion and views towards the Bangladesh border. Boating and local visits depend on conditions. Carry a packed lunch if needed.

4. Cherrapunjee → Shillong

   After breakfast, stop at the Duwan Sing Syiem viewpoint and visit Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls and Mawsmai Cave before driving back to Shillong.

5. Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival

   Spend the day at the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, when the city’s cherry trees flower in late autumn. Festival dates and programmes are announced by the organisers each year, so plan your travel dates around the confirmed schedule.

6. Shillong → Guwahati airport

   After breakfast, check out and drive to Guwahati, visiting Kamakhya Temple if time permits before your flight.

Before you travel

• Pack layers and comfortable walking shoes. Hill weather changes quickly, and several sites involve steps or uneven paths.
• Arrival-day sightseeing and departure-day temple visits depend on flight times. Museum visits, ferries and river cruises depend on opening schedules, water levels and availability.
• Flights between cities on this route are not included unless your quotation says so. Book them only once the ground arrangements are confirmed, and allow for schedule changes.
